Howard Barron is a self-taught black and white photographer residing in Jackson, Ms. He started making photographs in 1950 after being shown the process by a high school friend. Howard traveled as an engineer for nearly 35 years and made many of his photographs of subjects that no longer exist.

Howard retired in 1999 and now devotes much of his time to his art. Howard uses the traditional silver process for making photographs. His darkroom is his sanctuary. He is devoted to the continuation of silver/gelatin photography. He uses a wide range of cameras from 35 millimeter to an antique 5 x 7 inch view camera. He enjoys sharing his knowledge and is responsible for teaching several others the joy of his craft.

Howard has displayed his photographs in many local libraries, restaurants, galleries, and other places of interest. Many of his photographs hang in local law offices. Besides being a major partner in The One Blue Wall Gallery, Howard plans to soon prepare a book of his photographs for publication.
